AIP’s goal is to provide children who are at high risk with quality special education and mental health services in the least restrictive setting possible. Through our Inclusion Day Program at the Washington Irving Middle School, AIP serves 20 Boston Public School students with serious behavioral or emotional disturbances. Our afterschool and summer programs serve Inclusion Day Program students along with other Irving students who are struggling in school, offering students from the Day Program extended-day supports and the opportunity to develop healthy behaviors in a supportive, supervised real-world peer environment.
The goal of the Inclusion Day Program is to create a helpful environment for students who need services that are not usually available in a public school setting. As public school students, children in the AIP Inclusion Day Program are expected to follow all the rules of the Washington Irving Middle School. Based on each child’s academic and behavioral readiness, AIP will work to help him or her reintegrate into public school classes. Parent involvement is a necessary ingredient for achieving these goals.

Parent Participation
